The average person travels LESS than 50 miles per day. This figure came not only from a study by the US Government, but from the auto manufacturers themselves.
You can see this for yourself by just doing a little math. 15,000 miles is the average vehicles distance driven in a year. Divide this by 365 days and you'll get 41 miles per day. Nifty huh ?
Current technology electric vehicles get from 50-75 miles per charge, so even if you commute to work 50 miles one way, as long as you charged up at work you can get home again.
This type of charging is called opportunity charging and will require an upgrade to the infrastructure to install charging facilities at our places of employment, shopping area and other public facilities.
